How to reschedule a speaking lesson

Learn how to reschedule your Swap Language speaking lesson, including the 24-hour notice requirement and what happens if a new time cannot be agreed.

If you can’t attend your speaking lesson, you may be able to reschedule it.

Here’s what you need to know before requesting a new time.

Step 1: Agree on possible new times with your group

Speaking lessons are small group sessions.

Before contacting your teacher, talk to your group members and agree on possible new time slots.

It helps to suggest a few different options, this makes it easier for your teacher to find a time that works.

You can coordinate directly in the group chat on the platform.

Rescheduling only works if the full group agrees.

Step 2: Contact your teacher at least 24 hours before the lesson

Once your group has agreed on possible new times, contact your teacher.

You can reach your teacher:

  • Via the group chat on the platform

  • Or by email

Your request must be sent at least 24 hours before the lesson starts.

Important: The 24-hour rule

If you request a reschedule less than 24 hours before the lesson:

Your teacher is not obligated to reschedule.

This is because:

  • The teacher has reserved that time

  • Other participants have planned around it

  • The time slot cannot always be moved

Unexpected things can happen. We understand that.

But the 24-hour notice helps keep things fair for everyone.

Can I cancel a lesson instead?

Speaking lessons are designed as ongoing small group sessions.

For that reason, lessons are not meant to be cancelled individually.

If you can’t attend, we always recommend trying to reschedule with your group first.

Rescheduling helps keep:

  • Your learning consistent

  • Your group stable

  • Your progress visible

For many learners, their company is investing in their course.
Regular participation shows commitment and helps demonstrate progress in company reviews.

If a new time cannot be agreed, the lesson will still take place at the original time and will be recorded.

You can watch the recording for up to 60 days inside your speaking group section.

That way, you don’t lose the content — even if you couldn’t attend live.

If you can’t find a new time

For group lessons, rescheduling requires agreement between all participants and the teacher.

If the group and teacher cannot agree on a new time, the lesson will take place at the original time.

The session will be recorded and available to watch for 60 days inside your speaking group section.

This way, you won’t miss the content.

If you are in a 1:1 lesson

If your speaking lessons are 1:1, it is usually possible to find a new time directly with your teacher.

You still need to request the change at least 24 hours before the lesson.
