Having Trouble Entering A Speaking Lesson? Try These Steps
Quick practical tips to help you resolve the most common technical problems you might experience when having a speaking lesson on Swap Language.
Before You Start:
Take a moment to review this support article and run a quick check of your classroom settings before your next session.
Basic Setups Checks
-
Use a supported browser on a desktop.
For the best experience, we recommend using the most up-to-date version of Google Chrome, Safari (for macOS), or Microsoft Edge. -
Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
This can help remove outdated data that may be causing performance issues. Be sure to do this for the browser you’re using (Chrome, Safari, or Edge). -
Switch to Incognito or Private Browsing mode.
This disables extensions and avoids interference from stored cookies or cached data. You’ll still be able to download files and save bookmarks during your session.
System And Network Troubleshooting
-
Inspect your hardware and internet setup.
If the issue seems to be device- or network-related, reach out to your device manufacturer or internet provider for further assistance. You can also consult our detailed guide for fixing connection problems. -
Turn off extensions and security tools.
Browser add-ons, antivirus software, VPNs, and ad-blockers can interfere with your camera, microphone, or overall connection. Try disabling them temporarily. -
Force quit any apps using your mic or camera.
-
On Windows: Press
Ctrl + Alt + Deland select Task Manager to close background apps. -
On Mac: Press
Cmd + Option + Escto open the Force Quit Applications window.
-
-
Restart your computer.
A full restart can clear temporary glitches and memory issues. After restarting, avoid launching apps that may access your mic or camera in the background.
